DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Many residents are on edge after what police are calling an “uptick” in shots fired incidents.

According to the Davenport Police, they have responded to more than 120 shots fired incidents so far in 2015. That’s more than all of the cases of shots fired in 2014, 118.

Interim Chief Paul Sikorski says he doesn’t want to speculate, but thinks there are probably numerous reasons why these cases have increased.

Sikorski did say these incidents are target specific and they can tie many of them together.

“Each one of the incidents, we investigate as separate incident,” said Sikorski. “We are able through investigations to link some of them together as related to one another, whether it’s an initial encounter then subsequent retaliation shootings.”

Davenport police have recently reallocated resources to address gun violence like this. Officials say these efforts have led to more than a half dozen arrests related to recent shots fired and shooting cases.
