MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) – UPDATE: Muscatine fire marshal, Mike Hartman told KWQC that the department received the call around 1:45 p.m. April 10, 2016. They said the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time, but it appears to be a total loss.
Hartman also said that the owner of the home was not at the residence at the time. The brother of the owner was reported to be watching the home, but Hartman says he is alright.
Hartman also added that the firefighter that was transported off the scene fell less 10 ft. off a ladder while fighting the fire. He is expected to be fine.
At around 5 p.m. it was reported that the fire under was control, but fire crews would continue to put out hot spots.

Muscatine, Fruitland and Wilton fire departments are responding to a house fire on the 400 block of Jackson Street in Muscatine.
According to neighbors crews have been on scene for several hours. A TV-6 crew witnessed one firefighter being transported off the scene in an ambulance.
