WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A Denver man has waived his right to a speedy trial on a murder charge in eastern Iowa’s Black Hawk County.

Thirty-seven-year-old Steve Fordyce Jr. is accused of shooting 43-year-old Donald Harrington in Waterloo last month. Fordyce pleaded not guilty on Aug. 30. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1Of255Q ) that Fordyce had been scheduled to begin trial on Nov. 3 but waived his right to the speedy trial at an arraignment hearing Tuesday. A new trial date has not been set.

Authorities say Fordyce’s relatives had been feuding with their neighbor Harrington and say Fordyce followed his sister to Harrington’s home on Aug. 14. Fordyce told officers that before the shooting Harrington yelled and waved his arms at him.

Fordyce remains in Black Hawk County Jail, pending $1 million bail.
