KNOX COUNTY, Ill. (KWQC) – The Illinois budget impasse has taken its toll on state funded organizations.
Several groups came together at the Boys and Girls club of Knox County to rally support and push for a budget.
The lack of a budget in Springfield, Illinois means organizations like the Boys and Girls club are not being funded.
Without the funding many organizations are running on reserves and leaders are saying this hurts the “at risk” kids in our area who are helped out by state funded programs.
“Please choose the kids and do the right thing, because they [legislators] know the success of these programs,” said Jeannie Shelton from the Boys and Girls Club of Knox County.
The Boys and Girls club offers after school programs, meals and help with homework for area youths.
