HUDSON, Iowa (AP) — Board of Education members with the Hudson School District have accepted the resignation of its longtime at-risk coordinator.

David Lipinski announced his resignation Sept. 4 after state education officials said he lacked the proper licensing requirements to perform the job that he’s held for almost two decades. Board members voted unanimously Wednesday to accept his resignation and to fill the at-risk position.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (http://bit.ly/1KTvGkS ) reports that Lipinski has a master’s degree in mental health counseling, but he lacks a teaching, school counseling or administrative license.

Maureen Hanson, a former school board member who helped start the district’s at-risk program, said she was told over the years that Lipinski still was able to fulfill the job.

Many people at the meeting praised Lipinski’s work and thanked him.
